2026 Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella EV Unveiled: Design, Features, Battery, Range & Rivals

Toyota Unveils 2026 Urban Cruiser Ebella EV: Powerful Design, Features, Specs & Battery Rental Explained

Toyota has officially unveiled the 2026 Urban Cruiser Ebella EV, marking the brand’s big step into the mass-market electric SUV segment. One of the biggest highlights of this electric SUV is Toyota’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) rental model, similar to what we’ve already seen from rivals like the MG Windsor EV.

The Urban Cruiser Ebella EV is essentially Toyota’s version of the upcoming Maruti e Vitara, which is expected to launch in India soon. However, Toyota has added its own design touches and positioning to make the Ebella feel more premium and refined. Here’s a detailed look at what Toyota’s first mainstream electric SUV has to offer

Exterior Design

If the Maruti e Vitara feels a bit too rugged for your taste, the Urban Cruiser Ebella EV offers a more sleek and urban-friendly design.

At the front, the SUV gets a closed-off grille, clean bumper design, and sharp body lines that instantly identify it as an EV. The standout elements are the monopod-style LED headlamps paired with pixel-inspired LED DRLs, which give the SUV a bold and aggressive face.

From the side, the Ebella EV features a curvy silhouette, complemented by thick black cladding around the wheel arches and lower doors. It rides on 18-inch dual-tone aerodynamic alloy wheels, enhancing both efficiency and visual appeal.

At the rear, Toyota has gone with a full-width LED light bar connecting the tail lamps. The pixel-style lighting elements inside the clusters add a modern touch to the SUV’s design.

Key Exterior Highlights:

  • Slightly longer (+10 mm) and taller (+5 mm) than the Maruti e Vitara
  • No roof rails, giving it a cleaner and more rounded appearance
  • EV-specific design elements throughout

Interior & Cabin Experience

Inside, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella EV closely mirrors the e Vitara’s cabin layout but retains Toyota’s signature refinement. The interior comes with a dual-tone black and tan theme, creating a premium and airy feel.

The dashboard features a dual-screen setup, consisting of a digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system. Toyota has wisely retained physical buttons and switches, which improves usability while driving.

You get a two-spoke, squarish steering wheel wrapped in leatherette, along with matching leatherette seat upholstery. Soft-touch materials are generously used across the dashboard, adding to the overall cabin quality.

Rear seat space is adequate, though the slightly lower roofline and raised floor (due to the battery pack) may lead to limited headroom and underthigh support for taller passengers

Features On Offer

The Urban Cruiser Ebella EV is well-equipped for its segment. Key features include:

  • 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display
  • Ventilated front seats
  • 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat
  • Fixed glass roof (non-opening)
  • Automatic climate control
  • Wireless smartphone connectivity
  • Premium interior materials

While the glass roof doesn’t open and is relatively compact, it still helps enhance the cabin’s sense of space.

Safety Package

Toyota has loaded the Urban Cruiser Ebella EV with a strong safety suite. Standard safety features include:

  • 7 airbags
  • All-wheel disc brakes
  • Electronic parking brake
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • 360-degree camera
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS)

In addition, the SUV gets Level-2 ADAS, offering features such as:

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane keep assist
  • Autonomous emergency braking
  • High beam assist
  • Rear cross-traffic alert

Note: The Urban Cruiser Ebella EV is yet to undergo crash testing. However, it is expected to deliver safety levels similar to the Maruti e Vitara, which has achieved a 5-star rating in Bharat NCAP tests.

Battery Pack49 kWh61 kWh

The SUV uses a front-wheel-drive layout in India. Although an all-wheel-drive version is available globally, Toyota is unlikely to introduce it in the Indian market at launch.
